Buying new furniture can be expensive. As a younger person starting out, it can be too expensive. That’s where thrift stores, garage sales and the parents rec room are great places to look for good deals on used furniture. If you frequent the thrift shops, you can do a quick walk through to see if they have what you are looking for.

Furnishing your first apartment takes time and money. If you have more time than money, try this approach. If you keep your eyes open and a few bucks in your wallet, you can take advantage of any good finds and bring them home.

Over time, you will want to buy new furniture. You can save the money, and buy the furniture when it’s on for a great sale price. Don’t just put the furniture on a credit card, you will end up paying far more for your furnishings.

Why not buy a piece or two at a time? Take your time and really choose the furnishings you think you will be happy with for 8 or 10 years.

Buying quality furniture is really quite important. You can buy the cheaper sofa and love seat now, but it may only last 4 or 5 years. Buying quality furniture means it will last much, much longer.

What’s your style? Modern minimalist with leather sectionals and cube coffee table? Do you favour a more traditional style, with wood dining room furniture and landscape photos?

Once you make your decisions about the overall theme of the room, it’s time to start shopping. Find your pieces slowly, buying a quality piece every time. You’ll end up with a home full of great furnishings and enjoy it even more.

If you are running a business from home, you need to find ways to promote your business, as well as yourself.  What type of promotional tools you use will depend if you are a business dealing in a certain location, with those customers being people who live in your community. However, what would you use, if your customer base is statewide or nationwide?

I noticed a recent press release from a company called InsuranceDirectory.ca, which has a comprehensive list of insurance companies across Canada. In fact, there are over 9000 members subscribed to the directory right now.

You will want to look into having insurance for your home based business, so take a look at the list of insurance agencies. You may find you can bundle your home, auto, medical, travel and business insurance. When you bundle all your needs with one company, there can be great savings. Also, it is more convenient to have all your insurance with one company, as opposed to having several different insurance agencies covering your various needs.

There are more than 250 Insurance agencies listed in Alberta alone, so I am quite sure you will find what you are looking for in an insurance company.

When you do have new products to announce or other big developments within your company, do not negate the power of a press release. If you make the effort to learn how to do some repairs around the place then this can save you cash while also giving you a new hobby. For example, if you go on one of the local plastering courses in your area you can carry out this essential work yourself and avoid paying out a lot of money to plasterers. The same principle applies all across the property and you might be surprised to see how easy some of the jobs which you have been paying experts to do actually are.

Sell What You Don’t Need

You might not make a fortune on selling your old things but you will at least make a start on your swimming pool fund while clearing out some spaces as well. By going to a car boot sale and selling whatever you no longer need you can free up some cash which could come in very handy for other things later on.

Cook at Home

Many of us spend a lot of money on eating out or buying in take away meals. Cutting down on this by cooking at home might not seem like a big deal but the savings can add up over time. If you start to make more of your own food then you will soon see how you can put away more savings in order to finally get those luxuries you have been dreaming of.

Destination weddings are very popular venues and they can offer spectacular scenery and weather. For couples planning their wedding day, where money is no object, a destination wedding is a wonderful idea.  Tying the knot at sunset on a sandy beach in a warm climate can be extremely romantic.

However, the majority of couples either do not have the money needed to throw a lavish destination wedding, or they want something much closer to home. They may even be able to fund the wedding, but don’t feel that is the best use for their dollars.

They can still have a wonderful wedding in their hometown or city where they are living and working. By planning every detail of the wedding ahead of time, they can have a beach wedding theme.

If this is the route you want to follow, be sure to think everything through well ahead of time. Remember to get feedback, advice and suggestions from your bridal party. Plan your reception hall with your theme in mind. Since a reception in a castle is not appropriate for a beach theme,  how about holding your reception in the local golf club where the dining room overlooks the lake?

Then keep adding touches suggesting a beach theme. Beach wedding favors such as sea shell tealights and miniature hanging lanterns would be a perfect fit. These can and should be used as decorations for the hall.

Key to holding a successful reception is the planning. You can do it as long as you think everything through carefully. Add any touches you can think of that suggest a beach wedding theme and you will have created a wonderland for both you and your guests to enjoy.

Are you looking for another way to add some color onto your reception tables?  Try adding a color in a slightly different shade that your main color.  This can really make your tables pop visually. Use the guest napkins to really set off the appearance of your guest tables.

You could choose a color that is in your guest table centerpieces, as long as it isn’t the main color. Instead, choose one of the background colors and then echo that color with your guest napkins. Since you will have six or eight guests around each table, this means those colored napkins will really look fantastic.

You could use plain napkins, but why not use personalized napkins instead?  You could even arrange to have the writing or graphics on the napkins in yet another color that is echoed in the table centerpieces.

If you think carefully about your reception hall, tables and all the other decorated pieces you can come up with a way to really emphasize your main color, while also using various shades of that same color. Come up with your plan and then get some feedback from your bridal party as to what they think. You could play around with swatches of material or colored paper to visually check out different ideas.

When you are searching out small keepsake gifts for your guests, you want to come up with some Unique wedding favors. There are many different kinds of wedding favors, from small photo frames to personalized beer steins, to etched champagne glasses.

When planning your wedding, you need to think about your bridal attendants and groomsmen. You will want to choose your very closest friends, and siblings too. Will you also want to have a ring bearer and a flower girl?

These are wonderful opportunities for any young nieces or nephews that you have. Children of close friends would be another possibility. Just be sure to have your grown up attendants well aware of the younger ones and have them watch out for them and be supportive.

You may even decide to have two flower girls and two ring bearers. That means two dresses, two Flower girl baskets, two pillows and 2 child tuxes.

It’s very important that the children understand that they are an important part of this day. They have been chosen because they are special to you and want them included.

You may be able to have other little duties for them, during the reception. Perhaps they could go around to the tables with the guest book to see if everyone has been able to sign. You can come up with some ideas to keep the little ones busy for part of the evening and off having fun for the rest of the evening!

When it comes to choosing your garter, you do have a lot of options. Having the groom remove the bride’s garter is almost mandatory. It has been happening at weddings for years and years. It’s that one time of the night where there is some hooting and hollering from the guests who are watching. Everyone cheers on the groom – this is all part of the ritual.

But, how many Wedding garters do you want? You may think that you would only need one garter, and that is the one the groom will toss to all the eligible bachelors in the crowd. Having one is fine, but you may want to consider getting two.

One for tossing and one for keeping. A special garter can be a great memory of the wedding, one for just you and your husband to share.

Consider getting a garter belt set along with the garter itself. After all, it is your honeymoon.
